Originally, karate was designed to be a life-long journey to excellence through great amounts of repetition, hard/demanding training, perseverance and patience. However, in today’s fast paced lifestyle of highly competitive and driven athletes, this is no longer the only path to travel. There are alternatives. With these new technologies, athletes can improve faster with less training and time if one knows how to use the body’s muscles and nervous system appropriately by fully activating them through improvements in biomechanical corrections and advanced training principles in functional neurology. In addition, the body can perform better with the appropriate nutritional supplementation. Both of these components can, also, ease the amount of damage done to the body from each workout, competition, and past injury. Even when the athlete has no apparent injury, there can be muscles that are not working at 100%. When this happens other muscles have to compensate which produces extra motion. Extra motion makes the athlete slower, less technically correct in
Kata, and easier to see in Kumite matches. The mental and emotional aspect of competition is vitally
important; in addition, these two components have to be in control to have peak
performances. All these components are encompassed in the Morton Method.
Morton's method is a state of the art multidiscipline approach to increase athletic performance. There are four interferences to peak athletic performance: structural problems, nutritional
deficiencies, emotional/mental issues, and toxicity. Structural problems consist of past injuries, trauma, faulty training methods, or over-training. Nutritional
deficiencies/imbalances produce decreased performances because the body does not have the nutrients to perform the basic physiologic functions of high performance. Emotional/mental issues from trauma or loss and negative belief systems can cause serious decreases in performances. Toxicity comes from alcohol, medication, recreational drugs, or environmental factors. When the body has to deal with these factors it takes energy and focus away from the activities of competing and training. These four interferences
to peak athletic performances can be correct by four steps: structural corrections, nutritional supplementation, mental/emotional clearing, and detoxification. Some of these have to do specifically with the athlete’s anatomy. Mental clearing and structural corrections can be directly integrated into
Kata or Kumite techniques depending on the athlete’s performance.
The Morton Method can be applied to Kata as well as Kumite. In Kata, regardless of style, the Morton Method can take basic proper technique and unlock the body’s natural speed and power to drastically improve ability. When the body is working at 100% and not suffering from any of the interferences, every move and transition is strong, centered, and balanced. This happens because every component of the body (nerves, muscles, and brain) is fully engaged in the action. In addition, it cuts out extraneous motion in the moves which looks cleaner but also increases speed and power.
In Kumite, once the interferences are removed, the body will move faster and
the athlete’s attacks will be stronger and more confident. Extraneous body
motion will decrease because the muscle responsible for a certain action will be working and other muscles will not have to compensate for the weak ones. Also, the athlete will be able to feel and see the opponent’s attacks better in order to react in the match.
An athlete who has one or more of these interferences can practice extremely hard on a regular basis and not reach his highest ability. To reach the ultimate level and standout, you have to do things that the average person does not do. So stand out! Be different! The Morton Method can help you reach your goal!

Dr. Morton has helped me many times in the days before competitions. He worked on my spine and muscles. Afterwards my body feels loose, and I fight much better. He, also, works on my emotions and mental focus before the matches. After these treatments, I enter the ring with a clear head, and my thoughts are in control.
